Flexible work environment with opportunities to make good money

Pros

Smart, approachable c-suite execs who actually know your name. Flexibility, especially if you are a consistent performer bWhenever life happens, I know weddingwire will be accommodating. Merit over tenure when it comes to allocating sales territories. When I started, I was given a smaller market (like every other sales organization). Once I demonstrated I could hit/exceed my goal, I was rewarded with bigger markets (over some reps who had been there much longer than me) Opportunity to make a lot of money especially if you exceed your quota and get bonuses on top of your commission.

Cons

Increase match for 401k. I know that when the company was first started, most employees would've rathered have a happy hour than have you invest in their 401k. Might be time to reevaluate allocating more funds here. Upward mobility within sales. The work environment can be distracting. Open floor plan can make it easy for other people's attitudes to rub off on you.

Pros

They let you work remotely. They fly you to Washington DC to be training for 2 weeks. The CEO seems nice. Unlimited vacation, which is actually just a scummy way of them not having to pay you out vacation hours when you quit.

Cons

If you came to WeddingWire looking to work for an innovated tech company, turn yourself around , this is not the place for you. They still sell the equivalent of impression based advertising. Seriously, not a single reputable online company has used that for local advertising since the early 2000s. It honestly is a garbage product to sell. There is absolutely nothing unique or special about this company. It is truly just a wannabe version of The Knot. In my few months here, I asked almost every manager what made this company unique, what made this product work... and I got crickets. It is basically like working with a bunch of washed up ex-sorority girls. None of the managers are qualified to be sales managers. During my 2 weeks of training, the CEO came in and said if we felt we were tricked or lied to during the interview process that we could quit now and be paid out 2 weeks. I went to bed that night debating bothering to come back in the next day. I've worked in sales at 2 of the most downloaded apps in the US, and let me tell you, this company is a joke. I stayed for a few months, and left for a company that sells a product worth selling. I took my time at WeddingWire off my resume and off linkedin, it was truly a giant waste of time and I am honestly embarrassed that I left such an amazing company to work here. 50% of the people who were hiring for the same job at the same time as me left within 5 months. That right there should tell you something.

Thank you for taking the time to share this candid feedback with us. Based on your comments, it’s clear that we didn’t meet your expectations of a remote sales role and our organization. We work hard to ensure our field employees have as positive an experience as our team in our offices; however, it looks like we missed the mark here. Our sales team is a large percentage of our company’s employees and it has grown significantly in a short period of time. Growing at this volume and pace introduces a number of challenges and your feedback provides additional insight into where we can improve. Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective.

Fun, young, creative place to work

Pros

Everyone is constantly working hard to innovate and work efficiently. New ideas are always accepted and encouraged. The culture is very fun and the non-traditional benefits are great.

Cons

Because the company skews so young demographically, there are a lot of benefits that are fun, but lots of employees wish the 401k matching was better and maybe funds could be reallocated from some of the catered breakfasts or parties to do so.
