District never works together.Every store is a competitor within the district vs working together towards beating the real competition.

Pros

Got promoted in less than 5 months from being a seafood associate. My managers really acknowledge my hardwork and make sure to not let that go unseen. I've been encouraged to go to interviews to move up. Pay is okay.

Cons

Cleanliness of the backroom is lacking. Store can be very disorganized, but that's really because they are understaffed. They avoid firing people as much as possible. You can be late/no call no show all the time, but they don't care to write you up or fire you. This is frustrating as a dept manager when you have useless associates that get no consequences. They avoid everyone getting overtime.

Pros

High point of customer contact for those of you who are people persons. If you know what you are doing, schedule can be flexible (part time)

Cons

Hours can be rough, the buck gets passed often, transition from part time to full time is not easy (have to know the right people). When it comes to an individual customer; the straw that breaks the camel's back will always occur in a grocery store, so keep you head up, smile and don't take it personal.
