      Quality non-profit health system understaffed and hospitalist group underpaid

      Pros

      Well-integrated, non-profit health system. Consistently rated as a top -100 hospital in the USA. Very good benefits package. Comprehensive, state-of-the-art services at York Hospital. Great nursing staff.

      Cons

      The larger it gets, the less personal it becomes. Chronically understaffed in all areas, including nursing and hospitalists. An increasing disconnect between physicians and administration. Salaries for hospitalists are not attractive enough to recruit or retain good physicians. The productivity bonuses are becoming more difficult to achieve because of unattainable quality parameters such as patient satisfaction.
