Pros

The firm has extremely high integrity. Colleagues are highly capable and generally nice to each other. It's very rewarding to work with some really smart and nice people.

Cons

As the firm has grown larger, it feels increasingly corporate and less entrepreneurial. People are getting more specialized but sometimes at the cost of losing broader perspective.

Pros

1. The culture at Wellington Management encourages cross-functional discussions of problems and issues. There is little hierarchy, and any employees who want to join a committee are encouraged to do so. 2. The benefits package here is unrivaled in the industry, with a major focus on health care and well-being. 3. Work/life balance is easy to achieve when warranted. However, some colleagues have a harder time with this than others.

Cons

Investment people seems to be dissatisfied with career advancement opportunities, but at the same time Wellington is very measured in its approach to most things. Be patient and opportunities will arise. The culture, although collaborative and academic, is externally conservative so if you do not like wearing a suit and tie, or business formal, on a daily basis, this company is not for you.

Pros

Culture is important to the company even if the model has suffered since the 2008 market meltdown. For a technologist, the company is a relatively early adopter of new technologies, and has a strong relationship with many technology companies. Still its business is managing money, and technology is merely the handmaiden. Despite rhetoric about the business/technology partnership, IT heads will roll in a turndown much faster than those of money managers. Benefits and total compensation is very good.

Cons

Too many have been there too long. Perry has never worked anywhere else of significance, and that is true of many other senior officers. Since this is a partnership and not a public company, the tendency to be "clubby" and protect the "club" above all is strong, tempered mostly by a deep commitment to customers.
