Pros

Wellmark is an amazing place to work. They treat team members very well. I have worked in many other companies in many different industries. Wellmark is the most employee-centered place I have ever worked. They actually listen to what team members say and make changes based upon those opinions. Wellmark has a very rich benefit package. They take care of team members and treat them very well. I have a lot of opportunities to try innovative things. My leader is very supportive and makes it fun to come to work. I highly recommend Wellmark to my network. No job is perfect and a career at Wellmark, where team members are treated extremely well and are valued, is the best I have ever experienced in my career.

Cons

Wellmark can be slow to change at times.

Pros

A great place to work where they are inclusive of everyone and embrace the differences in people. Wellmark supports a healthy life at home and work. The benefits package is one of the best I've ever seen at a company. The culture is a positive one and promotes development and a learning culture. It is the perfect environment for me to focus on my strengths and do my best work.

Cons

The health insurance industry is a volatile industry with the constant changes issued by the government and that sometimes results in changes of how we do business, which can sometimes change people's role at their jobs.

Worker sentiment is very low in 2018

Pros

Great benefits, free gym, free parking

Cons

Management is terrible, and the company is on a firing streak right now, so no one feels secure. The Human Resources hiring staff is all young girls with no real life experience, and they don't know what they're doing. They take way too long to hire and, by then, ideal candidates have taken jobs elsewhere. The company stresses an emphasis on culture, but the culture as described doesn't match the culture in the workplace. It's a tough industry right now, and the leadership isn't prepared for what's ahead. Many in leadership are simply people who've been at the company for a long time but are not equipped to really lead. Lots of people losing their jobs so not many feel secure right now. Unemployment is very low in Iowa so there are more secure opportunities out there.
