Pros

Good benefits, some perks, great on site wellness center

Cons

Mainly, the work culture/environment. Too much emphasis on customer satisfaction in the form of reducing their rates even at the expense of the well being of their employees. Long hours, unreasonable expectations of employee availability beyond the work day. Too many meetings.

Pros

Insurance gets a bad rap in the community - Wellmark has a great business model that is focused on our members and our Leadership does a great job of educating us on the model and our mission so we can help carry that message. I feel proud to represent our company. We also have a great set of benefits including a wonderful building which has led to many administrative savings and better productivity - not to mention a lot of opportunities to become healthier between our cafeteria and work out facility!

Cons

Insurance is a tough industry, risk adverse and (generally) slow to implement changes. Wellmark is no exception. The company's leadership works hard to manage change, both transformational business changes and changes to facilitate health care reform measures, but they come slowly and with many levels of approval.
