Pros

Good benefits, medical, dental etc.

Cons

No cost of living pay increase. High sales pressure (90 closed sales per quarter) Heavy micro management, lots of feedback. None of which is positive. Standing consistantly for 9 to 10 hours with one 45 minute break. Unethical procedures used to meet sales goals. No incentive compensation unless ALL 90 sales are "closed"

Pros

PTO is good for a starting position. Large company and thus lots of states to be able to work in if you like to move. Lots of divisions to transfer to after 1 year of work.

Cons

rampant unethical sales culture, high pressure, poorly designed products and a system that is ultimately destructive to the customer and employees. Lazy management that put significant pressures on employees to produce while taking no accountability or responsibility themselves. Lowest on the totem poll gets paid very little incentive compensation/bonus. Business model is focused on quantity not quality. There is a significant lack of teamwork between direct coworkers. "Needs based selling" is a sham as if they do not have a need for a product or service it is because the salesman hasn't found a way to justify one for the client yet.

Pros

The company is stable and they offer a benefits package. In the current financial crisis employment at Wells Fargo is pretty secure, however there are rumors of lay off's comming, as we merge with Wachovia.

Cons

In order to progress in your carreer in retail banking you have be willing to throw out your morals, pride and common sense and be prepared to do a lot of ass kissing. Retail managment does not care at all about sales emplyees, their only goal is to squeeze as much out of you as they can. As a banker be prepared to be assigned redundant and inefficient tasks which will only hinder you from achieving overinflated and unrealistic sales goals.
