Once you get to a management position, you are stuck there for many years working an average of 60 hours per week with an average of 2 percent increase of salary year after year. Pay is low compared to other financial institutions.

Pros

Sharp, hard working team members; conservative bank which has served them well over the past few years, a lot of different areas which provide opportunities to learn, people who sincerely want to do right by the customer and who deliver their best effort.

Cons

Very bureaucratic, death by meetings, very complex, highly matrixed business model - often not very effective. So much effort is put into meetings, powerpoint decks, buy-in (from an ever-expanding group of stakeholders) etc., it's a shame to see such talent wasted. Understandable that an organization of it's size and regulatory visibility needs to move cautiously, but like many big companies it takes forever to implement any meaningful change.
