MeadWestvaco corporation is a stable company with a strong balance sheet. The employee base is diverse and skilled, and it has done a good job at reengineering it'self to become a global leader in end-to-end packaging solutions. The company stresses their code of conduct, respect for the individual, and results based objectives in order to create economic profit for the employees and shareholders.

Cons

During the economic downturn, mid-senior level managers are primarily interested in their own business performace, rather than mentoring mid-career executives and working with cross function SBU's to align on strategy as one MWV. Competition between executives seems professional yet many times we're competing with each other in the marketplace.

Extremely ethical senior management team Good benefits and Good work environment Overall a good group of employees Those with more than 5 years with MWV are generally very proud of where they work CEO has a vision that seems to be working, unfortunately he is the only one who knows where we are going (this is a pro and a con) Hard work is often rewarded - but you have to be sure your work is known

Cons

Vision of senior management not communicated clearly (lost of words but not a lot of specific information) Dead wood floats to the top too often Lots of personnel churn breads uneasiness in the workforce, however if you are self directed you will be fine Many new hire have a 'what's in it for me' attitude and do not seek to contribute to the big picture and longevity of the company
