Cons

As an employee of Whatnot, it is with great concern that I must address the recent changes and their detrimental effects on the operations team. Over the past months, the company has implemented several adjustments that have significantly affected our work environment and morale, ultimately leading to a sense of dissatisfaction and disillusionment among the operations staff. Firstly, the recent changes in management decisions and operational policies have had a negative impact on our daily tasks and overall efficiency. These changes were implemented without adequate consultation with the operations team, resulting in confusion and increased workload without proportional support or resources. This lack of consideration for the team's input and well-being has fostered an environment of frustration and demotivation. Moreover, the treatment of the operations team has been notably poor. Despite being the backbone of the company's day-to-day operations, we feel undervalued and underappreciated. There has been a glaring disparity between the expectations placed on us and the recognition or compensation provided. Many of us are severely underpaid relative to industry standards, which has compounded feelings of resentment and a lack of motivation to perform at our best. The morale within the operations department has steadily declined as a result of these issues. There is a palpable sense of neglect from upper management, who seem disconnected from the realities and challenges faced by the operations team on a daily basis. This disconnect has led to a growing sense of disillusionment and a high turnover rate among experienced staff who feel their contributions are not acknowledged or adequately rewarded. In conclusion, while Whatnot may be striving for growth and efficiency, the manner in which recent changes have been implemented and the treatment of the operations team raise serious concerns. Addressing these issues is crucial not only for employee retention and satisfaction but also for the long-term success of the company. Without meaningful improvements in how the operations team is valued, supported, and compensated, Whatnot risks losing its most dedicated and capable employees to competitors who prioritize their workforce's well-being and contributions. It is my hope that this review serves as a catalyst for positive change and a renewed commitment to fair treatment and respect for all employees, particularly those in essential operational roles.

Pros

Work from home, coworkers and immediate managers are extremely wonderful and I would’ve left a long time ago without them

Cons

Literally everything else. If you’re working in any position under the ‘Operations’ umbrella, you are treated as less than human. Absolutely no one I work with in Trust and Safety or Support makes anywhere near enough money to survive. On top of that, we are REQUIRED to work weekends and holidays with only 5 days of PTO per quarter. They gaslight us in meetings telling us they pay top of market for our positions, but anyone with access to Google can tell you we don’t make anywhere near what other Trust and Safety agents do. Many of us need to take on part time jobs to be able to survive, and then are told by upper management that that’s a conflict of interest and will take focus away from Whatnot if we have another job. We have tried so many times to politely address to upper management that we are burnt out, struggling, and mistreated only to be laughed at and told we should be thankful to have a job that gives us so many wonderful benefits. We don’t even get access to any of those said benefits anymore. Our last performance review cycle, I witnessed so many top performers only get a 1% raise for the backbreaking work they do day in and day out for this company. We are killing ourselves with not only nothing to show for it, but they don’t mind adding more to our plates and daily workloads. You are going to lose every single high performer and all of your top talent by treating them like garbage. Listen to your employees. Please. We want to work here and we want to do our jobs well, we just want to be treated fairly. We shouldn’t have to beg you guys for that. Shame on you.

No pros, the unprofessionalism I've witnessed with the entire company is pathetic!

Cons

If you're okay with being underpaid, mistreated and not valued, Whatnot is the perfect place for you!
