Broken promises, poor transparency, and sudden layoffs
Pros
The only advantage of this role was that the work aligned with my core knowledge and technical background.
Cons
I joined Wheels Up Partners LLC in March 2025 with high expectations, based on assurances made during the hiring process. I accepted a lower salary than my previous role after being explicitly told that I would be promoted within a few months and receive a full bonus. Unfortunately, none of these commitments were honored. Despite working extremely hard, investing significant time and energy, and making strong progress toward mastering the company’s product and codebase, I was laid off in December 2025, along with my direct manager and head of the team. This occurred while multiple projects were still actively ongoing, which made the decision feel abrupt and poorly planned. The severance offered was only four weeks of salary, which provided little support given the circumstances and timing of the layoff. Additionally, there was a lack of transparency during recruitment regarding benefits. I was not informed that health insurance coverage would only begin at the start of the month following my employment start date. As a result, I was uninsured for my entire first month, something I would have needed to plan for had I been properly informed. Overall, my experience was disappointing due to unfulfilled promises, inadequate communication, and limited employee support during layoffs. I would advise future candidates to get all compensation, promotion timelines, bonuses, and benefits details clearly documented in writing before accepting an offer.
