Very challenging time at Wiley

Pros

The people I've worked with are smart, empathic, and very passionate in making Wiley a stronger company. The paid time off is generous.

Cons

Constant restructuring, constant lay-offs, and constant changing objectives has made it difficult to focus on day to day work. Salaries are lower than the average market, which was fine when there was a pension, but without a pension, its just low and stays low.

Good work/life balance, but unstable company

Pros

Great work/life balance - 35 hour work week, lots of PTO. Great colleagues . Company has lots of good people and great friendships have developed over the years. Global company allows the opportunity to work with great colleagues worldwide.

Cons

Unstable company. Reorg after reorg for the past couple years and the next one is probably right around the corner. When someone is fired or leaves the company, we aren't able to hire and replace those colleagues. Low pay for the amount of work everyone has to do because of all of the reorgs/layoffs. Senior management says they have a plan for the future but are terrible at communicating a clear message and continually flip flop about the business strategy and goals. The company has silo upon silo and there are business groups that are the favorites to management. Those are the groups that get the most resources (pay, bonuses, team members, recognition of work).
