Doing good work for the community, room for some growth, room to invent your own approaches to managing your tasks and workflow (lack of clear and established processes means you can make your own), flexibility in using various tools/resources to get the job done.

Cons

Lack of internal training. lack of management training, lack of collaboration/team spirit
