Pros

consistent work schedule, will always have 40+ hours of work a week

Cons

anything you come up that is easy to implement will be told that is stupid and will not work and then the person who told you it would not work gives the suggestion to upper management where they run in and get all the credit. If the idea is too comlicated for them to understand they will just not do it. -middle management and engineering constantly change variables to manipulate data to look like outs are being meet. they constantly lower quality standards at end of quarter to get more out in that quarter, resulting in RMA from customers. -they would sarifice at least 2% in wafer quality to get 6 hours faster out time. -rely entirely on correlation data instead of causation data

Pros

I worked at Cree for three years right out of college. At the time I left the company I was frustrated with a lot of the operations in the wafer fab. But looking back on the experience, it was a really great opportunity right out of college and I'm glad I spent three years there. The engineering managers and leads in the wafer fab trust the engineers to make important decisions that affect production. Even right out of college, a lot of responsibility was given to me and the other young engineers working there. The company provides an invaluable learning experience. You learn engineering skills and professional skills. Most of all, you learn to take on difficult challenges. Mistakes are inevitable. The managers were great at holding you accountable while also standing by your side.

Cons

It seemed like the operators and techs that spent all day on the manufacturing floor were never given the credit and the respect they deserved for the work they put in. I hope that's changed.

Pros

World Renown Company, cutting edge product, good benefits.

Cons

This company is a joke. Middle to Upper Management has lost the faith of the workers which has driven the atmosphere to be entirely negative. The company refuses to spend money on new tools and staffing and instead insists on buying refurbished, practically obsolete tools with little to no vendor support. Management is stretching their staff thin because they refuse to back-fill positions after workers leave the company because of being over worked and under payed, it's a catch-22.
