Pros

Great technology. Nice cafeteria. Opportunity to change the world.

Cons

Cree leadership considered people expendable. The motto "Cree is we" was almost a lie - you don't have the right to question or discuss senior leadership decisions (and if you do you get yelled at and risk being sidelined or fired). Terrible work/life balance. The Cree culture was used as an excuse by most senior leadership to treat people disrespectfully. Women largely not respected. Senior leadership behaved like they were smarter than everyone and refused to listen. No career growth opportunities because the company only lived quarter to quarter. Highly stretched resources with few or no systems. Old boys club of the same people making the same moves and treating people badly was the order of the day. It was a soul crushing place with a revolving door of staff.

No Sense of Direction.

Pros

-health benefits -401k match -fitness center Employee stock purchase program was nice when the company was making money. Not much else to list.

Cons

No sense of direction at all. Constantly "putting out fires." End of quarter time required many employees to work almost two weeks straight (salary and hourly). Never ending restructuring of management resulting in much confusion. No upward mobility if you're good at your job and promotions were non-existent.

Pros

Senior management doesn’t have the experience or the sense to run a real business.

Cons

The pay does not match the level of work that is asked of you. There's a lack of creative freedom, very little room for advancement, and atrociously bad management. Departments are chronically understaffed due to layoffs and the culture is highly bureaucratic and very political. Cree cares more about appearance than actual work so hard workers tend to be the last to be rewarded. Consider this place a stepping stone to the next job. Also expect your workload to increase each time someone leaves until they fill that position.
