Pros

Insurance PTO Coworkers Direct team is usually pretty good

Cons

No matter how much time you put in or how much you contribute to the team, you can be fired without warning. DEI and Inclusivity trumps all meaningful work. We have "marginalized" employees who do nothing all day and still get larger raises. They are inept and incapable of doing their jobs. I worked there for two years and learned a lot but nothing pertaining my role except what was directly needed. If you get hired on nights, go back to school and get your bachelors or do remote work for another company. You will have enormous amounts of downtime that you can either waste or use to your advantage. Training is nigh nonexistent. You will teach yourself nearly everything. Apparently that's not an issue though because you can pass the buck to the next shift over and over again. Everyone is either extremely experienced or entirely new to the semiconductor field. Expect to be the singular technician for your shift and department. Expect there to be no real expectations for you. Expect there to be no direction. Expect to see leadership flip-flop repeatedly on the direction of projects.

Pros

They have upped operator pay to compete with other jobs.

Cons

Cree has turned to a very toxic place, many in maint have quit or are trying to leave. Another recent reorg has put it unbearable to work there. If you have skill or are a quality tech you will be saddled with a never ending amount of work as soon as you get in, while lower quality techs get to sit around all shift. They will refuse to show you the work area during an interview then hope the 2 year commitment to move you here will hold you there. Whatever knowledge you have from previous fabs is meaningless to Cree. They filled the fab with discount and bargain equipment, and have no interest in PM's, BKM, optimizing process etc... outsiders with fab background are soon shocked how they do not care about improvements or your input to better the process. They squandered the LED and lighting business and lost them because of this. They currently are letting employees think they'll get a severance package when they fizzle out, which is soon, but no employee believes this. Anyone with prior fab experience soon finds out they were tricked into getting hired here, engineers, supervisors, techs etc.... its a very bad situation here. HR has been involved in a few situations and has sided with mgmt in some very bizarre decisions, employees fighting on the job resulting in a hospital trip, both employees still there, denying vacation requests, not enforcing attendance on certain employees, its a very bad situation here.

Pros

Mostly good people to work with. Perks, good cafeteria, gym, employee stock purchase plan, etc. Lots of change underway, plenty of opportunities.

Cons

Playing catch up in IT due to years of underfunding. Needs better transparency, lot of cloak and dagger moves. Lot of theory, light on the execution. General air of toxicity fueled by prolonged uncertainty of direction.
