Pros

I have worked at Cree since 2011. Very good salary. Stock option and ESPP programs allow you the opportunity to substantially add to your yearly income (if you're wise on when to sell or hold). Profit sharing bonuses are a nice little few hundred dollar bump, but don't expect to get rich off of them and certainly do not expect them to happen every quarter. Gym is nice. Cafeteria food is good. Holiday party is a blast and top notch. But, three stars only because of the financial aspects. Otherwise, it's a two star company.

Cons

I have to agree with many commenters that the management culture at Cree (Wolfspeed) is very much "what have you done for me lately". You'll work your butt off for a "meets expectations" performance review. Expect very few pats on the back for a job well done. It is a pretty thankless environment. "Cree is we" when your work results are good. Otherwise it's a lot of finger pointing. I've always said the hardest part about working at Cree is not the work challenges. I actually find it technically fairly easy. I believe the most difficult part is dealing with the thankless management attitudes described above and the frustrations and resentment that result from it.

Pros

Probably the only benefit I have received while working at Cree is the fact that they pay for my gym membership. I know that is something minimal, but I can't think of another positive reason for working there. I have however, met a handful of great colleagues as well.

Cons

You're overworked and under appreciated to the extreme. You're forced to take on tasks that aren't even in your department. Then when reviews come around you get no credit because now people are expected to go above and beyond their designated job just to be told you "meet expectations" Loyal employees are easily let go or choose to leave because of the reactive mindset of the company. There is no consistency with upper management. You are constantly told contradictory information. No one knows what's going on. If you try to reach out for guidance, there is none to be found. HR has been completely useless in helping employees in any capacity. The turnover rate in every department is so high that everyone is in a perpetual training mode. Due to this, the products that come out are poor quality at times because the company apparently values quantity over quality. I mean, working hard is not a bad thing if you're actually doing it for something you can be proud of. That's not the case here.

Pros

Trying to think of some... it's not the pay, or hours, or work-life balance.

Cons

Major strategic planning issues. No idea what development we're doing beyond the next few months. Claim to be pushing for greater quality, more reliability - but when it comes to actual execution, it's ram the change through as fast as possible. It's all about this quarters results - expedite (and spend) to pull in for this quarter, but this causes major ramifications. Components division is not competitive - dragging the whole company down.
