Practice What You Preach

Pros

Option to work from home, continuing education reimbursement, gym reimbursement, pet insurance, happy hours with lots of alcohol

Cons

Woolpert's HR and upper management do not practice what they preach. Since being acquired by MSD, it has become a toxic culture of numbers. They've lost sight of the key contributor that got them where they are, the employee. HR and upper management say all the right things; be a personal, relational and contextual manager yet they don't actually follow through. They preach about diversity and inclusion, yet there is very little in all management levels. They claim to promote a healthy work/life balance, yet you're frowned upon if you work less than 50 hours/week. They claim to respect and value their high performers, yet these are the employees leaving due to the change of culture. They pride themselves for receiving the Great Place to Work title, yet they essentially brainwash employees in meetings to rate it as such. HR/upper management have held meetings telling employees to leave positive reviews to counter the negative ones (notice all the "Great Place to Work" reviews). They even ask employees to space the reviews out so it's not obvious (look at dates of reviews). They claim to be consistent and fair in decision making yet there is clearly a "white boys club" (look at org chart). Finally, employee utilization is viewed as a currency...your worth to the company. However, project managers will limit the hours employees can charge to their projects. This, again, is all about numbers looking good for upper management at the expense of the employee's true effort. Woolpert used to be a family oriented, fun and exciting company to work for. Unfortunately, due to the MSD acquisition, focus on growth/profits and lack of employee appreciation, Woolpert's culture continues down a death spiral of toxicity.
