Work with what you love, learn a lot from very smart people, and interact in a friendly environment with lots of activities going on. If your advisor doesn't have RA funding for a certain semester, departments usually (in my experience, always) find a TA position to cover your expenses, even if it's some extra work.

Cons

As with any research work, students are ridiculously underpaid compared to what they would get in the industry. It's worth it while you're getting your tuition covered and working toward a degree. You also get paid during the summer if you're an RA.
