Pros

- Large and old NGO - Very well resourced compared to a lot of other NGOs - Comfortable offices - There are some great people, but the passionate ones leave after a while

Cons

- Leadership does not have experience or knowledge about international development, and does not let the experts lead in their technical areas - Over-staffed on top: global center, support offices, etc. but completely under resourced on the bottom: national offices and their local programs - Religion interferes with work, and dictates development agenda - Low salaries for those in the field, not transparent structure and distribution of benefits, salaries or raises - Double standards: all senior leadership has luxury contracts with additional perks, allowed to purchase alcohol and stay at resorts, while the rest of employees have to demonstrate more christian values, receive low wages in local devalued currencies and stay at hostels.

Pros

A large, diverse international organization that cares about its employees and stresses work-life balance. Very flexible in allowing tele-work. Good medical and retirement benefits.

Cons

Work teams span multiple international timezones forcing meetings to occur late into the night on a regular basis. Management is not disciplined in terms of follow through with commitments to initiatives. The company is in a constant state of restructuring which makes it difficult to implement programs before priorities shift and budgets are reallocated. Salaries are below market.
