Not what I thought it would be at all

Pros

*You can gather enough vacation time when you get laid off or quit you will have a couple paychecks covered *There is some departments that do impactful work

Cons

*Management-centric with a loss of the mission to help and impact children. Multiple projects with unstable funding *Management is dishonest in hiring candidates-upward mobility, advancement, and pay increases may be exaggerated. Ask how the project is funded, about any recent layoffs on the team, and be smart if they start to make promises. Get everything in writing. *Low pay, and a pension plan, and the pension will become your severance and you will lose your retirement if you are laid off-and I Have yet to meet anyone that retired from here. *HR has PR people that put positive reviews on here-for every negative you may notice there are three positive. A company that doesn't have something to hide wouldn't need to do this. World Vision has become about saving face, not saving lives.

Dysfunctional management ruining potential

Pros

Great mission, great field operations, many strong, dedicated employees

Cons

Other reviews have done a great job of pointing out some of the weaknesses which largely have to do with the marketing department. It's lead by a long-time employee with no grasp of marketing or strategy, key VPs lack basic management skills, and one VP has accurately been called "toxic" in other reviews. They are a big part of the problem but have no self-awareness to change. Instead, it's a gossip driven, finger pointing place with a very deserved reputation for being passive aggressive. Morale is very low as the rank and file have lost confidence in the marketing team's leadership. Hopefully significant change will come soon, or the best employees will continue to leave. Until a COO and CMO are in place and big changes in management happen, I just can't recommend it as a place to work.

Disappointing

Pros

Wonderful to work for an organisation that does great things.

Cons

Constant team changes, restructuring and new appointments made this organisation a difficult place to work for. On a weekly basis, positions are advertised on SEEK. I worked there for neatly 7 years and my position was made redundant - the position was readvertised the following week. I was so distraught and believed so much in the cause that I did not take them for unfair dismissal. If this was done in the private sector, it would be a different story. No exit interview offered. Management support upon being made redundant was extremely poor.
