Pros

There is opportunity to really build experience if you can start from the bottom and work up. This is partially dependent on circumstance and direct supervisors, but the organization is huge and the opportunities are ample. People here have big hearts and many are willing to work for very little because of the impact they have on children in need.

Cons

It's difficult to move to different departments and different areas of the organizational structure. Work ethic is distinguishable based on exempt and non-exempt employees. DCS itself is provided knowledge of the organization on a need-to-know basis and the disconnect from WVUS is felt. Work hours can be difficult depending on your department.

Pros

Excellent benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) that's second to none in any industry. Excellent retirement plan (non-profit). Excellent pension plan (who has pension plans anymore...???)! Wonderful Christ-filled work environment with daily devotions and an hour long chapel service every week - all management strongly urges employees to make time for God's inspiration every day. Excellent Work-Life balance because Christ is the center of all we attempt and aspire to do through His strength.

Cons

Pay isn't the greatest (it's a non-profit mission-based organization, so that's to be expected). If you're here for the money (alone)...you won't be satisfied. The organizational structure is such that any promotions take a very long time to achieve (if at all) but the work that you do in your slotted area counts for something more then simply making money for the company.
