Pros
You get a real sense of having helped to make a difference at the end of the day. Good pay, good benefits, great atmosphere and teammates. Excellent opportunities to grow and improve your skills.
Cons
Extremely challenging work at times, emotionally draining, as you will be exposed constantly to dire human suffering and need and you cannot allow yourself to grow numb to it. The donor services department has extremely high standards of customer service and if you cannot meet them, they will cut you loose. Many departments have poor communication and coordination with other teams and this can lead to misunderstandings or duplicated work.
