Pros

Great mission and travel. Was more impressed with work being done in the fields versus in the states.

Cons

As a contract worker it was difficult to get support - I was the "face" of World Vision to thousands yet couldn't even get a business card because I was only contract.

Pros

Work with positive people. Save lives. Opportunity available to advance. Insurance offered. Overtime during holiday season or other high call volume time.

Cons

For me it was mostly the commute. Sometimes it took a lot of hoops to get answers or changes to processes. And not a ton of room for creativity. Out dated computer database and programs.

Pros

Great mission and the organization has decades of experience they have built on and continue to learn the best ways to benefit the poor throughout the world.

Cons

It is a Christian organization, and at first I liked that it was a job where I could also practice spiritual growth. But as time has gone by, I do not appreciate it as much because I feel there should be more respect for the different ways people express their faith. It is a multi-denominational organization, but sometimes people of certain denominations (such as Catholics) may feel disrespected. Though WV started as an Evangelical organization, it is now multi-denominational, but it seems like many employees did not get that memo.

World Vision USA Response
10y
We appreciate your feedback and support; like you mentioned World Vision is continually making it a priority to learn the best ways to serve the poor all over the world. As a Christian organization made up of a multidenominational employee group, we acknowledge that this is a great blessing but of course also provides a fair share of challenges. Through our Faith at Work programs including chapel, prayer and devotions, we are always striving to focus on aspects of our Christian faith that bring us together as an organization rather than those that would pull us apart. The goal of the organization is to acknowledge that however employees practice their faith, we are all united in the belief of who Christ is and the call for us to serve the poor. Of course we realize that we are not perfect at this and we are so sorry to hear that you may have interacted with employees where this was not the case. Our senior leadership team strives to honor the faith traditions of all of our staff, so we thank you for the advice that we may need to look into this more deeply.
