Easy to get 'certified' on subject, lots of students and a variety of levels/subjects to tutor in

Very competitive. Reducing rate not really worth it since most goes to company

Good Student Matching, Poor Payment Policies

Pros

It is a very nice vehicle to reach new students and build a resume for tutoring. I'm a graduate student using this service to make a little extra money to increase my stipend, and it's very easy to pick up a few hours here or there.

Cons

The pay schedule is incredibly predatory. 30-40% of your rate goes to Wyzant, and while this might be apropriate for a first lesson or two, it's terrible for both the tutor and the student. The student feels they're paying you a much larger amount than they are, and thus feel like they've bought more of your time than they really have. While the matching service Wyzant provides is excellent, their policies make it pretty unsatisfying to work for them long-term.
