Pros

Excellent products with great collaterals to support the Sales process.

Cons

I work for an authorized Xerox Sales agent. My agency is poorly managed with no real leadership. Xerox direct employees treat us like we're the "stepchildren" at times. Poor communication, almost too much info. is given with no real way to sort through it all. Xerox is NOT open to new ideas from employees. If something isn't working, they don't really want to hear about it. Turnover in my agency is partly agent ownership's fault b/c of bad management. They either micromanage you or leave you to your own resources, there is no happy medium. No respect for employee's personal time. Manager does not inspire Sales force to do their best work. Treats them like they are there to "serve" them. Contradicts his words and his actions. Xerox contributes to the problem by complicating the Sales process. For example, their internal prospect database is cumbersome to use and therefore nobody updates the info. It's difficult to manage a sales territory without accurate info. No database is 100% accurate, but Xerox database is poor. They rely on Agencies like ours to update the customer info. but limit our access and it's just slow and difficult to use. Pay is low compared to other Sales jobs in the area. Sales Rep pay is commission based, but Xerox reps tend to make less than most of their competitors.

Pros

Great people, great products, management team that's been tested by near-death experiences in 2001 (nearly ran out of cash).

Cons

Marks-on-paper business is flat, and potentially declining, across the industry. Xerox needs to revisit the lessons of PARC to ensure the next great technologies in the digital age don't merely pass it by, or risk going the way of Kodak and Fujifilm.
