Pros

I have been working at YRC Freight for 3 months, what a mistake - I am searching for other employment... nothing good about working here.

Cons

YRC Freight treats workers terribly and the management team micromanages us. YRC is very frugal with their funds - we get paid the lowest of all freight companies - truck drivers get between $18-$22/hour, reps earn near minimum wage perhaps because YRC stock price is around 3.00 per which is crazy low (bad upper management) - they have a Market Cap of about $105M but owe about $1.2B. It just seems like they are going out of business soon. Very low morale and big separation between the union and management.

Pros

Benefits Money is decent could be better. Job is just a job if you can withstand the Bs you’ll be fine. Just come in and do your work and come home like you left in one piece.

Cons

Favoritism, dispatch can be very disrespectful at times. They will try to write you up on every little thing. A lot of racism goes on at this company. Especially at the Charlotte terminal. Forced dispatch. You can not I repeat can not refuse a load ever. You will be fired. The hospitality is horrible. Some of the company paid hotels your houses in are terrible. Dispatch doesn’t want to pay you your money for charging them for pins sometimes or mileage. So you have to make a note of every trip. If you “Fatigue out” they will try to write you up and make you go on a trip tired as a dog. To them your just a dumb driver and another number. You will work on the weekends on extra board. They tell the new guys you will not go up north to New York and that’s a lie. You will run doubles into New York I’d you go to Carlisle, Pa. if you get a run to Carlisle, Pa your running their district and nine times out of ten. Your going into New York that next day. And your going to be running district for Carlisle for at least 3days. You have to get at least 6 trips in before you can take 2 days off. And the day you come back is usually the day they count as being off and then the next day is the second day and you go back out the day afterwards so technically 1day off. The union isn’t what it use to be. They are tied into the company and not for the drivers anymore. You have to watch not only the dispatchers. But, some of your own co-workers also. Some of them do what I call pocket watching and wanna know where your going and eat mad if your trip is better than there’s. And some of your co-workers the white ones even say racial slurs amongst one another in the open and laugh. I call it a klan meeting. But, that’s just my opinion. Management will cut runs and not tell you about it. They are so old fashioned it doesn’t make since. We use ELD’s and they still want you to go over your hours sometimes. Messing with YRC you’ll lose your CDL license. Oh and by the way if a major hurricane or flood or snow or whatever the case may be is coming. They will still send you out in it.
