Pros

Good paid benefits easy to get hired plenty of hours up to 70 week. 8 years ago one of the best companies to work for.

Cons

Since the merger 7 years ago everything has gone downhill. Worst morale in drivers I've ever worked with. I'm making $3 less an hour than I was told I would. And some of the worst equipment on the roads. Short on trucks and employees in every position because of pay. 90% of employees are 15 to 30 yrs employees and spend their days trying to get even for the cut and pay, hard to do your job when nobody else is doing theirs.

Pros

You can't do domestic freight any other way; centuries of job security. You have to fight or steal to be fired; Literally.. Great health and dental, and you make 30k a year starting. They help you get a CDL without school if you work the yard long enough. $1.00 a year raise. Great vacation-day system.

Cons

Mandatory overtime almost daily(two-hours) because nobody is maid to do what they are paid to do.. Supervisors can't do anything about people who don't work; which is like 99% of the people per-shift. Sometimes supervisors will sit and talk with a worker for hours about anything; on the clock! Supervisors hand pick trailers for dock workers sorting most bills to most favorable(fewer bills means you likely have volume or bulk which is bad for your bill count). Favorable workers will 'pass' on trailers with damaged freight so others have to do it. I've seen messy trucks sit a whole day because someone didn't want to do them.. My Terminal had someone from corporate coming out every couple of months to complain and people basically just ignored it like always. Pretty much about production everytime.. Unlike North East unions the rest of the US it's basically every person for themselves except for voting time where people pretend to care. There are small packs at each terminal who work against each other. Mostly culture or age based. **The American economy will eventually force companies to abandon unions. I worked with people who had been working at YRC for decades and never did a days honest work..**
