Pros

Competitive pay at most locations

Cons

Horrible communication throughout employment and hiring process Unsafe staffing ratios, leaving only 1 RN on a supermax population compound very little to no help during your shift You will be put into constant situations that jeopardize your licensure with no one in your corner to turn too You can notify corporate of any and all concerns and you will be ignored, no issues or complaints are ever addressed. There is no follow through with anything from the management side of things.

Pros

Great pay and great experience working with offenders.

Cons

They work you 70-80’s a week and always on call. Even on vacation! Zero communication from upper leadership.

Pros

Pay is competitive, but nothing to write home about. There is flexibility in how you complete your job, as long as there isn’t any recent crisis.

Cons

This is by far the most toxic work environment I’ve ever worked in. First off, the company is chronically short staffed in every single department. I have brought tons of evidence to demonstrate that it is unsafe to provide care with that amount of staff - I get ignored until I push it harder, which results in micromanagement and tons of inconvenient changes to my workflow which makes everything take longer (they made me more efficient at doing the workload of two people, instead of getting me help). Inconsistent enforcement of rules, depending on the rapidly fluctuating mood and mentality of corporate. Constant broken promises - make sure you get literally everything in writing. I have had promises broken in regard to my salary, future raises, shifts, time off, job description, literally anything that benefits you as an employee. You are expendable, they will throw you to the wolves without any support at all if the prison has any concerns. They create a sick culture of lies and backstabbing in order to bring yourself up.
