Amazing place, but don't expect a start-up

Pros

Great people. The opportunity to work on a product that reaches almost a billion people. Be at the cutting edge of video, technology, and media. Great pay and benefits.

Cons

Endless meetings. Endless email churn. Endless fire drills for sales and marketing teams. Google has 35,000 employees now, so YouTube is part of a huge bureaucratic organization. Don't expect career advancement especially for mid or lower lever employees. The company is jammed with directors who will never leave so advancement is difficult at best.

Pros

Work at home, no employer, easy, build up an audience, there is a possibilty that your video could go viral making you a lot of money, and you can make as many or little videos as you want. There is no limit.

Cons

The amount of income you get from this job is based on your amounts of views. Unless you are one of the top 100 youtubers, your going to have to build up an audience to get the views.
