Pros

Decent entry-level position for somebody new to the workforce.

Cons

Position is described as patient care but management treats staff as if it is a call center. Leadership will walk the floor yelling for people to pick up the phone and patients who are on the line with reps can hear that in the background. There are requirements for the number of calls taken per rep and this often forces staff to rush patients off the phone. Because of the call center metrics, the job is about quantity and not quality. If you care about your work being done correctly and about actually helping the patient, your stats may suffer and management will reprimand you for it. It's about numbers and not patients. It's a 24/7 department but there are no supervisors or managers on hand on evenings, overnights, early mornings, weekends or holidays. Department morale is very low. Turnover is very high. During my entire career, I have never experienced a turnover rate as significant as the one in this department. Leadership team is very cliquey and the only folks who were promoted during my employment were ones who overly flatter the management/directors. Management style is to point out employees' short-comings rather than focus on their strengths. Department is frequently under-staffed which falls back on the reps rather than the management (who should be staffing appropriately). Company does very well but there are no bonuses--ever. Position is also very sedentary and the company does not allow for standing work stations or offer any opportunities for employee activity during work hours.

Pros

Great product, great R&D, great sales compensation, good people.

Cons

Very top down organization. Marketing has no autonomy. Sales drives marketing org so it is short sighted driven by aggressive quarterly sales quotas. Marketers have no input to customer insights or long term planning. Great for someone starting their marketing career but not for an experienced marketer.

Technical support

Pros

Best reason to work here, in this department is you are free to be whom you are physically. Within reason the dress code is relaxed and can do whatever to your physical appearance (wear jeans, have bright hair colors, etc...). Work hard and you get extra projects to do on the side to allow the new techs an opportunity to take calls and see what it’s all about. My supervisor is awesome! Really like my cheerleader and drives me to my best and works with you to be your best self. There are work at home positions for veterans.

Cons

A lot of changes are made quickly and your expected to know and understand at a moments notice... high turn over expected to work weekends and holidays even if you are a veteran. Promises are made but never kept. There is a HUGE DISCONNECT between the Pittsburgh and San Jose office as far as tech support goes. There are a lot of things Pittsburgh is strict about that San Jose gets away with. A lot of leadership has favorites and the chosen favorites can get away with anything. The director is very abrasive unless you’re a favorite. Leadership sends out dozens of changes a month via email but it’s rare we have sit down meetings to understand the changes. Then you hear about the mistakes you make when there isn’t a clear understanding about the original change. Yes they make you read and take quizzes but not everyone learns best that way. Anyone can read and copy and paste an answer. It takes a very long time to get more to do unless you’re a favorite. Management turnover is very high. Expect to hear about every little mistake you make. There’s a lot of low morale in the dept in Pittsburgh. Management says one thing and then changes their mind but never lets the team know. Good luck getting a straight clear cut answer from leadership. You get a different answer every time or it’s a non answer that leaves you with more questions. Leadership roles don’t offer much pay than a reg tech support position. Holidays are now recognized but you lose 6 vacation days in tech. Good luck getting xmas and New Years off. They promise seniority off but it’s not done that way.
