Pros

Everybody I worked with at Zebra, was, without exception, a good person. Typically well-qualified, hard working, and kind, employees the Lincolnshire office exhibited quite a bit of Midwestern charm. The internship had me working on a variety of projects, and offered some opportunity for interaction with Zebra Execs.

Cons

I arrived shortly after the merger with Motorola. To give an idea of the confusion experienced, it took roughly two weeks to get a computer. It took my cubicle-mate three. You see, all technology requests still filtered through Motorola, at least for those new employees onboarded into what was formerly the Motorola group. Management was tied up for months with the details of the merger, and some of the technology didn't work the way it needed to. It was messy and confusing, and hadn't changed by the end of my three months.

Pros

very little. The C-level management seemed to be very interested in their products and employees. However, there was not a lot of interaction with them. They had promised to keep all jobs when they purchased Motorola Solutions' Symbol Mobile Enterprise division but they already laid-off entire product teams within 6 months.

Cons

Mid-level management was incompetent and unwilling to adapt to change. The director of the PMO did not even know what an Agile Sprint was. The lower-level managers acted in fear. All projects were waterfall. They do not have the right talent pool to last another three years. The Senior VP was not qualified to hold his position but was very good friends with the divisional VP. there were lots of challenges the culture across the US, especially when dealing with the aggressive style in the NY office. Management was very wasteful with personal spending but review project-related spending on a weekly basis.

Pros

- Decent benefits - Flexible culture - Good employee stock options

Cons

- Abyssmal software development culture - highly corrosive management team - worst internal interview process ever (for an internal department transfer - 3 months and 12 interviews ended with termination) - highly political executive team & culture - return to office policy that all executives ignored, but anyone under them gets yelled at for not coming in
