Pros

The team at this site is tremendous. The collaboration is impeccable and there is a clear understanding to accomplish a mission.

Cons

Site head operates on archaic times. Multiples forms of harassment in which HR and SR leadership continue to ignore. The collaboration between groups drive the site which somehow compensates for the lack of involvement from “site head”. Average age of employees is over 50 years of age and this is 100% not a place for a young person with family or someone wanting to grow in their career. Recruiters will sell high on what they think is a smooth operation, but its only a matter of time before the organization catches on to the terrible culture and work life balance that has been implemented from someone that is truly involved 1.5 hours per week ( huddle meetings Monday, Wednesday and Fridays). The turnover at this site is real and the site head continues to build cases to push employees out that pose a “threat”. Happened with numerous Supply Chain members and is currently happening in Engineering. This isn’t a place for someone to grow! FUTURE EMPLOYEES LOOKING TO JOIN ZIMMER—- I would connect with former employees on LinkedIn for the truth on how this site operates. Employees with tenures of 10+ years have been pushed out or have resigned due to the one that rules with an iron fist. Very condescending, rude and terrible leadership. Please do not join this site until the initials of MA are no longer “leading” the charge.

Pros

*Lots of flexibility, the ability to work remote *Good benefits and substantial PTO

Cons

*Company has not offered any career/department training opportunities in 5+ years due to budget cuts *Most of the work is being consulted out to India, taking the fun/creative aspects out of the job *Every department is understaffed; high turnover rates across multiple departments *The people who want to speak up/do the right thing are never offered advancement opportunities *If you aren't a "yes man" type person, you won't advance here. People who say "no" are either demoted or laid off at the end of the year. *A lot of people that are in their roles don't know them, even after being at the company multiple years, which can make for a frustrating work environment for those that do know what they're doing *Company preaches integrity/quality, but then rushes you to get things done. People are fed up and leaving.

Pros

You'll wear many hats giving a wide range of experience not gained with other employers in the same market space

Cons

ZB is a holding company that just happens to operate in the orthopaedic marketplace. The company is run by accountants and lawyers. You'll be underpaid relative to counterparts at other companies. Getting even the most simple things done is like trying to get a constitutional amendment passed. Your survivability relative to semiannual layoffs is essentially a game of musical chairs. There is legitimately little-to-no room for career growth and advancement opportunity. The high level performers are either let go or get frustrated and leave, while the few promotions that do happen go to the lazy, incompetent, and ineffectual and these promotions are due to the length of time served not accomplishments--this company is not a meritocracy. Warsaw employees will be paid dramatically more than you when you live in a major metropolitan area with a cost of living 2x to 3x that of the Warsaw, IN market. If you like working for the federal government, want the same level of red tape and idiocy, while not making a government employee pension, this is the place for you.

Thank you for your review, although we are sorry to hear of your ZB experience thus far. If you feel that something violates our companies' guiding principle "respecting the contributions and perspectives of team members," we encourage you to report these occurrences and discuss opportunities with your manager and/or HR business partner. It is with candid and constructive feedback that we can continue to improve and succeed as a company. While you are meeting with your manager and/or HR representative, we encourage team members to have conversations about career growth and opportunities, such as tuition reimbursement, utilization of the internal career portal and performance tools. After all, the responsibility to map out your career goals and development plan belongs to the individual and his/her manager. In the meantime, we hope to reassure you that our Total Rewards team continuously reviews our pay program to ensure team members are paid equitably in line with each location's cost of living and current market standards. We empower you to use your voice given the opportunity, such as the current total rewards survey.
