Pros

Minimal job loss due to Zimmer-Biomet merger, so far.

Cons

Overall atmosphere is on the negative, downtrodden side. Change is good unless the change process and transition plan were not carefully thought out. Leveling due to merger based heavily on whether an employee was a legacy Zimmer or legacy Biomet employee. No clear transition plan provided for promotion. No clear training methods.

Pros

Solid products and processes. Good overall company to work for. Benefits and compensation is good.

Cons

The overall culture is very poor currently. The two combined companies are having difficulty working together. The management team that has been put into place in the new company are not doing a good overall job. Time will tell if this improves. Zimmer's culture was very poor the past few years and the merger has not helped that situation.

Pros

Pay is better than most places. Have a gym, cafeteria, and nice cafe on site.

Cons

Company has changed a lot since I started, mostly for the worst. Upper management no longer cares about retaining good employees. The benefits are good but they used to be great as they are continually taking things away that have been in place for years. Research has ground to a halt for no particular reason. They are only concerned with acquiring other companies and reducing operating costs so the share price goes up. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing it should not be the only focus of a company who claims/wants to make a difference in the world. For instance the merger with Biomet was only about making money for the higher ups via stock options. In the end it isn't good for the consumer or the local job market because there is less price competition and less job opportunities. Also, the company culture is stale, robotic, and rife with corporate buzz words like innovation that no longer have any meaning because they are not actually put into practice.
