Pros

Great people all highly motivated, smart, and looking to solve hard problems.

Cons

Work-life balance can be a little daunting due to a fairly young and motivated group of employees. As the company matures this is becoming less of an issue, though. Also, management is very understanding and open to taking time off when you need it. The pressure is mostly internal to try to keep up with the amount of work to do.

Pros

- Fast paced work environment where you can work really cross domain - Learn a lot very quickly -- high learning value for your time especially compared to FAANG - Design-focused company; some Apple vibes, but also a strong Google-inspired engineering culture, down to the tools used. Ultimately care about doing things the right way, engineering and design wise, than getting something clunky out the door. This ends up ringing true all over the company. TKK is gone but his lessons remain. - Cohesive strategy from management; product offering is very clear - Small teams with lots of autonomy (no pun intended) have been able to build tech rivaling the other big giants in the space. Very little fluff gets in the way of just doing your job. - Work/Life seems fine so far. Nobody is pressured outside 9 to 5, though some do choose to work more. - Objectively cool what you get to work on. It's AVs!

Cons

- Lots of work to do and there are clear areas that are under invested in compared to competitors - Behind in funding and resources compared to competitors. You get more autonomy, but there's also less support & structure compared to the other giants - The goal is ambitious, and while there's a path forward, you can easily feel overwhelmed and under confident in the promised result when you see the problems all day - Pay/perks aren't as good as FAANG - Management can feel overly optimistic sometimes -- while having a confident leader is good, glossing over the reality of the project isn't

Pros

Free lunch, snacks. Pay was alright, but we’re risking our lives testing these vehicles so could be better.

Cons

No life/work balance. Favoritism with instructors/leads. Management letting things “slide” for those they favored although they’re doing the same thing others were/are getting fired for. “Safety” is priority then half the staff needs to be terminated. The environment is toxic & everyone is running around trying or wanting to “one-up” the other or be the next best thing and it was exhausting to be around as a full time employee or should I say “contractor”. A company that preaches about moral & ethics yet consistently contradicts itself. If you miss middle/high school and love drama/pettiness you may enjoy working here. After the former senior director was let go and this new guy arrived, things seemed to be going downhill as far as culture. Glad I received the experience, but WILL NOT miss it.
