Not what it seems

Pros

- Hybrid/remote work depending on position and manager - Office space with free food - Semi-competitive salary

Cons

- ZARS has no value - Extremely hostile work environment - Upper management is disorganized and lack empathy You can be fired for anything, literally. People come and go because the rules/policies are manipulated. Someone you worked with one week can disappear the next with nobody to continue their work. There are no steady policies, and training is nonexistent. Middle managers heavily power trip. I urge any prospective employees to read every review and find the common denominators. As a point of reference, when I joined the company, it was sitting at 4.3/5 compared to the 3.6-3.7/5 now in a timespan of about a year. That should tell you something.

Pros

- Free food and Friday afternoon dessert

Cons

- Horrible leadership and executives. There were a lot of BIG egos and favoritism. Cringe-worthy behavior by executives that were rude, arrogant and lacked knowledge in their supposed area of expertise. - If you had been there for more than 5 years, you were considered a favorite and were protected. No matter how bad your behavior was, people who had been there for a while were protected. If you were "liked" by a leader, you would be promoted regardless of how your stakeholders found your work value/contributions. - There was A LOT of drama. Rumors of execs and leaders sleeping with each other, bad behavior, values misalignment and people not liking others. - No real culture. The teams were all very siloed. They grew too fast and forgot to instill good corporate values into the organization. - Leadership lacked presence and confidence. All hands were awkward and uncomfortable. When C level staff were presenting, you would have thought they were front line managers versus executives. Oftentimes, an executive would say something as a joke or off the cuff and it would be offensive and stir up controversy.

Pros

They seem to be upping their perks

Cons

Talk about a rotten culture! I joined after the Amazon acquisition. Everyone here has one thing on their mind: money. Pretty much everyone got screwed over by the deal (I guess Amazon bought Zoox at a losing valuation), so the team is quite bitter and definitely resentful of the Amazoners who have joined. But at the same time, the team is counting the days until their payouts come (varies by team I guess, but happening over the next year). Within my first month, my boss openly said they’d be out of here after that payout!! It feels like a big box store being ransacked on Black Friday.
