Pros

Strong performance management system to evaluate performance. RBS is solid continuous improvement platform utilized throughout the company. A lot of autonomy typically to do your job and achieve goals (no micro management).

Cons

Weak bonus program that never delivers more than 1/3 of overall potential. Little to no career guidance for those seeking upward mobility and opportunity. Poor strategic planning ability and guidance from top on down. Have missed revenue targets the last 5 years in a row for the PMC businesses. Declining markets (strong ties to mining and oil which have been declining for many years).

Pros

What made Falk great was an organization-wide commitment to providing superior products, but more importantly - superior SERVICE to its customers. Many of those individuals who helped make Falk great by living this philosophy day in and day out - are still practicing this at other businesses and are THRIVING as a result. The best example, among many, is that of our friends in Mukwonago.

Cons

It certainly is sad to see the end of an era - especially one that we were all a part of to one degree or another. Business is business these days, as cold as that sounds. So many businesses are run much the same way as any one of us would buy and sell stocks - with no emotion or thought to the longevity of the business. We all want quick profits, and shy away from the hard work it takes to BUILD a business that will provide steady returns well into the future.Its a shame to see this once great company and recognized leader in many power transmission products being reduced to a skeleton of its former proud self. I still point back to the days when the Falk family ran the show as the highlight years.For 125 years, they weathered the cyclic trends of the mining industry, up until the Rexnord Vikings eager for riches , took a short term view of running the business, Pay the shareholder NOW, or be amputated.
