Pros

BP has some great strategic thinkers who will keep the business a competitive supermajor for a long time. In general, it makes good decisions on a global scale, and has some of the best technology in the industry. It allows for flexible work hours and it truly does try to provide for a balance between personal and work life.

Cons

There are the management elites, and then there are the grunts. Shoving long-time employees into cubicles where there is not enough space to effectively work was just plain stupid. The company spends a huge amount of effort on "Diversity and Inclusion", which is fine if you think the work environment has anything to do with "coming out of the closet", but everybody except the white male is celebrated. It gets old.

Pros

Location is nice. You have London at hand, and a good environment with your peers. There is a lot of young people bringing nice envirnment.

Cons

Paperwork is too complicated. Sometimes you get sunk under the burocracy. There is a lot of secrecy and politics concerning communications with managers and directors.

Working at BP

Pros

It's an unusual corporate environment where you have the security of working for a big company (and having the benefits that come with that) and the entrepreneurial space that you get from working in a startup. They're not afraid to try new things and challenge the status quo which is more than I can say for MANY other fortune 500 companies.

Cons

As with any company, there's a lot of red tape. When you want to get a project moving, it's sometimes board after board to get approval, and by the time you finally do, the project isn't really viable anymore.
