      ebay Search is most political/ worst group I ever worked in my career

      Pros

      Competitive salary/ mac book. Stock is doing fine.

      Cons

      eBay search is run in a very disorganized fashion. They are developing new search engine which only few folks are allowed to touch. Rest of the engineers are not utilized properly and no one cares for the end product. Most of engineers have left the group and many are in process to leave the group. Managers lack technical expertise and are busy in playing politics and using one against other. This was not the case earlier. I will seriously advice you not to join the search group as this will be total waste of time.

      Pros

      They have some VERY smart people at eBay. Competitve salary and benefits. Great brand name that provides useful experience and credibility in the job market.

      Cons

      Org structure WAY too complicated and fragmented. Openly skeptical (if not hostile) to any kind of marketing that cannot be directly measured within a week, month or quarter. Some of the folks in more senior positions are really impeding the potential growth of the company.

      Work here if you do not want a personal life

      Pros

      Good benefits, latest technology, very strong software release processes, able to purchase MS products for very low cost, very green company.

      Cons

      eBay will suck the life out of you. My projects requires teams to put in 16+ hours per day on a regular basis. Management needs to roll up their sleeves instead of taking 30 day sabbaticals, working from home and leaving at 3pm while team are working to 3am.
