      Pros

      Career Advancement - Technological Knowledge. A full-bore ahead mentality can lead to a fantastic learning curve (but has its siginifant downside - see below). Once on this path, ones career opportunities begin to flourish as your knowledge of business and techology (in this forum) begins grow.

      Cons

      Long hours & lack of communication from the top down. A "full-bore ahead" or "dive in head first" philosphy to change, without (in my humble opinion) taking into consideration the "law of unintended consequences" first. Making changes that significantly impact the eBay selling community, and asking middle-level Customer Service management to deal with the fallout.

      Pros

      You are trusted to manage your job or function without being micromanaged. Fresh ideas and innovation are encouraged and if you make a compelling case you are empowered to implement your plans. The pace and rate of change - while sometimes taxing - means there's little chance of becoming bored.

      Cons

      The culture is one of managing-up where individuals who can talk a good game often are recognized and promoted while others with integrity and actual results are often overlooked. There is more focus on looking inward and telling a good story internally than really listening and responding to the customer -- and our stock price reflects this.

      stuck in "turnaround" hell -- we'll see how it all shakes out. a lot (too much) change going on right now

      Pros

      great brand name, real impact on people's lives, removing inefficiencies from marketplaces - its nice to work for a company that is universally known (but sometimes passionately hated as well)

      Cons

      way too much bureaucracy - too much "its not on my list", and this year, a lot of fear around layoffs and constrained resources. product changes are slow. existing processes are inflexible. the company has carved work into so many little pieces that its hard to find any ownership. too many ex-consultants and ex-bankers in leadership - we need more operating expertise to run a company. much too focused on powerpoint decks instead of real bold action and experience.
