Pros

positive aspects - amazing flexibility - set your own hours, work from home. Also students are fascinating people from all over the world, some become friends and are such a pleasure to work with. Also, if students cancel less than six hours before a lesson you are paid for the lesson. My particular boss I had was great though I had interactions with other management not nearly as competent.

Cons

negative aspects - pay is quite bad. hourly wage does not even increase with inflation. In two years I (and fellow colleagues) were given a 50 cent raise. Every employee for goFLUENT I talked with was disgruntled about the pay. Job offers no benefits (management always attributes this to being part-time) and doesn't guarantee hours. Students can cancel up to 6 hours before a lesson and the teacher isn't paid. Sometimes, I would wake up and have up to 50% of my lessons cancelled. The company has a bonus system which is a lot of work for very little reward. Employees are reviewed four times each quarter (in live lessons and lesson reports) and each review has multiple 10-20 criteria where employee can be penalized. Employee has to get all reviews perfect to get something like a $50 bonus.

Pros

- Friendly environment; everyone is approachable, including the country manager, CEO, and CFO - Salaries are never late (at least, not that I can remember); sometimes early - Overtime discouraged; good work-life balance

Cons

- No special perks, only basics - HMO covers employee only; family members are charged additional

Pros

Great training, meet/talk with diverse international community, good support from management, learn while training, benefits of working from home

Cons

Pay isn't that great and you have to "work" 20 hours a week minimum, but you only get paid during lesson times, so generally you only get paid for 8-12 hours/week; also I tried several times for promotions but was unsuccessful
