Pros

Some of the most incredible coworkers

Cons

Where to begin... - Let’s start by clarifying that the majority of high ratings on here are coming from new hires who are required to post a review after onboarding. This therefore skews the Glassdoor rating significantly. - CRO came in and drastically increased workloads while significantly decreasing pay. It feels as if job responsibilities are constantly changing and it is difficult to keep up. iCIMS asks that you embrace change, yet the majority of their changes within the last year have been incredibly negative. It is nearly impossible to complete all of your work within the work day, and it is incredibly disheartening when you are taking home so much less money. The changes that iCIMS has been making negatively impacted the only d positive culture here. - Tenured executives made a mass exodus and new incompetent ones have replaced them. The new CEO holds weekly COVID related meetings and spoon feeds employees lies and nonsense. These meetings are unproductive and despite being told we are still a very financially healthy company, over 10% of employees were recently laid off. During this time though, the new CEO decided to hire his daughter. The nepotism and complete lack of transparency is nauseating. Prior to the mass lay offs, we were shown how poorly we are doing in employee satisfaction surveys. It is also odd that prior to the lay offs we were told that we need to drastically improve our attrition rate. - You will never know where you stand with management as one second you are on track for a promotion and the next you are not. It also doesn’t help that it is difficult to keep up with how drastically your job responsibilities change day in and day out. Management rarely provides any actionable or constructive feedback. It was also very obvious as to who they were pushing out. Despite work performance, certain employees were put under a microscope. Something shady has been happening for quite some time, and certain members of leadership were in on it while others were blindsided. - As others mention on here, sales is favored. Expect to be treated with little respect from this department.

Pros

By far, one of the best things about iCIMS is the people here. There are some real, genuine people that will have your back or go to bat for you. It's also really unique in the area - it's hard to find another business in central NJ with the "hip" "startup" vibe you'd find in a major city. They do invest in employee engagement, which is another rare find in central NJ, so you get some nice events and perks. The company story is also very impressive - the software is truly industry leading and who doesn't love hearing about a profitable, growing company. We're the "contrarian" in the space which is a fun, communal thing everyone around the company can rally behind. At the quarterly all-hands-on-deck meetings get old after a while, but at the end you do feel like you're part of a team doing something pretty cool.

Cons

After your iCIMS "honeymoon" phase ends, you begin to realize that a lot of the cons mentioned in reviews below aren't exaggerations. Leadership appears to "shoot from the hip" and will dismantle or rearrange teams, job titles, job descriptions overnight in the name of "kaizen" or "adaptability." Aggressive goals can sometimes lead to up-flares of toxic environments where managers, teammates, or departments are pitted against each other. Sales and marketing can both be extremely clique-y. Marketing feels like high school with whispering everywhere, gossip and favoritism rampant. Sales is a total frat party where account executives act as if they're king of the castle even if goals aren't met (and it is kings - there are only 3 or 4 women in the dept). Account Management can be better, but changes over the last year have been aggressive and inconsistent. If you are not in a role directly tied to revenue, it sometimes feels like you're the second class citizen here. They have been trying to "button up" the past year, as they continue to grow and head towards going public or being bought out or whatever, and try to operate as an enterprise business but also keep the startup culture. Truth is you get the worst of both worlds - aggressive timelines and constant change of a startup with the middle management and arbitrary processes of a enterprise company.

Thank you for your kind words about our employees and software, as we’re very proud of the culture that we’ve built and the technology that’s enabled us to do it. As for adjustments and changes to our business, we strive for transparency when introducing them, but recognize that we can do better.

Pros

- Good work/life balance, but mostly because workload isn't properly balanced - Company does well to offer full-company holidays sprinkled in on top of most bank/federal holidays - Structured and clear expectations/guidelines for advancement in role - Stability - Phenomenal place to work if you want to work 2 hours a day and hang with your kids

Cons

As I spent more time at iCIMS, I became overburdened with bureaucratic rituals, top-down decision making, and frustrating structures that diluted my job role and killed any ability I had to improve the team, the organization, or even just myself as a professional. My impression of upper management is that they are more concerned with posturing themselves as thought leaders and decision makers instead of involving the frontline designers, product managers, and engineers in moving the product forward. Anyone with institutional knowledge of specific products or teams would be overruled by higher level execs who took seemingly little to no time to connect with or understand the needs/goals of the teams below them. Last straw for me was getting invited to a meeting with an executive and a number of other selected employees that I thought would serve as a forum to discuss our experiences and this person talked about themself for 45 minutes without showing any consideration of how we as employees thought the company or even our own teams could be improved. They also obfuscate any accountability for decision making on salary and benefits. I got my expected pay raise aggressively cut down for what was supposed to be a significant promotion because I changed remote work locations, and was forced to leverage an outside offer to get the money other employees in my position were receiving.
