Pros
On Semiconductor does a great job of shipping lots of commodity parts. The division I worked in was involved in designing custom chips for different industries (ASICs) which kept the design work interesting.
Cons
Division targets (goals) were out of the control of the workers. Also layoffs would occur depending on the strength of the entire company regardless of the needs/successes of the divisions. Seems like working shorthanded is the new trend in "efficiency".
