Pros

Started as an excellent positive work environment. Started with great work life balance. Seemingly started with a plan.

Cons

Company working backwards. Financial collapse nearly inevitable in it's current state. Minimal job security/growth potential.

Pros

Some of the best in store culture I’ve experienced working in retail sales. Super awesome and helpful higher ups that are willing to do whatever they can to help you.

Cons

There are so many issues with this company in terms of operational procedures. I was part of opening a new store and they overloaded us with 50+ rolltainers of shipment. If you’ve been in a dollar general, you’ve seen a rolltainer. They’re massive. It’s nearly impossible to get through all of the shipment because the distribution center will send you stuff you already have. Then the backstock areas become overly full with product you can’t put on the floor. It ends up becoming a hazard in the back where you can barely move. Then they’ll send you another 20+ rolltainers a week without care and expect you to figure out the space. It was a nightmare. If you’re working in management, specifically assistant management, they will make you travel to assist other stores. They reimburse you for gas and pay for hotel and give you a little money for food daily, but it genuinely was not worth the physical and mental toll it took to travel 2/4 weeks a month to a store that has been open for over a year and barely knows any operational procedures. You’re basically responsible for cleaning up their mess and working long brutal doubles. Again, the people really are very kind and understanding and the hours are somewhat flexible, but it was the most frustrating job I’ve ever had. I would never return to pOpshelf to work. Also, to get ANY sick/vacation time (they’re the same thing with this company, so you’re just using PTO), you have to work for them for a MINIMUM of one year, even if you’re in management!! I unfortunately got covid while working for pOpshelf and since it hadn’t been a year of employment for me, I was forced to take unpaid time off and it screwed me over. It was awful.

Pros

Beautiful Store, Relatively nice customers.

Cons

Management and structure is so-so. Expectations are reasonable unless hated by clique. As far as hostile work environments are concerned. I give this one a 2.99 out of 5. You might get in the hotseat, but the day might be okay as well, I've seen better and I've seen worse.
