A company struggling between being a kid's dream and a big business

Pros

Working with THAT brand behind you makes the company a pretty special place to be - most of the employees genuinely care about LEGO and its customers which makes for a very positive working environment, though I'd echo what one of the other reviews has said that if you hate the stuff it's probably not the place for you... The company is also very open internally about its projects and plans.

Cons

The company's high growth recently has led to more pressure on every area of the business, which are not always equipped to deal effectively with it. The management structure, especially in the retail arm of the company, has led to a few people far removed from the 'action' holding a lot of decision-making power with largely incompetent middle managers beneath them, so trying to get anything major achieved can be incredibly frustrating. Low employee turnover (while generally a good thing) makes progression within the company almost impossible. Pay & benefits (in the UK at least) is also poor - the love for the company held by most employees is taken advantage of hugely in my opinion.

Pros

I go back to legoland year after year as I love working here! There is loads of variety within every working day as no two days are the same; all the staff are very helpful for new staff and are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure you feel welcome in the park; there is a great amount of opportunities available to staff in terms of training and getting involved in social activities!

Cons

At legoland you will need to be willing to work long hours and part time contracts are all set to 0 hours which is useful for flexible work but can sometimes make it hard to pick up extra part time work

Pros

The people and product are and is great. You can't help being around LEGO without being happy, and it's nice to work in a place where the staff and customers are all equally pleased to be there.

Cons

There's really high expectations - in terms of almost being an entertainer/kids camp counsellor, as well as a significant pressure to upsell people towards more expensive sets - for a minimum wage job. Also, the constant pressure to upsell people got awkward for us and for customers.
