We're pleased to announce 103 students have received Ascend Cares scholarships totaling over $215k, a new annual record. Our community service scholarships are awarded to students of our employees who demonstrate leadership skills, academic achievements and, above all, a commitment to community service. "Education is a powerful tool for creating positive change," said Krissy Osborne, Ascend Cares program manager. "We are proud to support students who share our commitment to making a difference in the lives of others." Since starting the scholarship program in 2011, Ascend Cares has invested almost $1 million to empower the next generation of leaders. Each student submitted an essay detailing how they create impactful change in their communities. Congratulations to all our amazing recipients!

We are proud to publish our 2030 Vision, a series of nine sustainability targets we hope to reach by 2030. The 2030 Vision outlines the kind of company we strive to be: where waste is minimized, everyone works safely and our operations are powered by renewable energy. "These targets are a public roadmap of where our attention is in terms of sustainability," said Chris Johnson, director of sustainability. "We worked with leaders across Ascend to develop these targets and the path to get there by the end of the decade." See full details of our 2030 Vision and other highlights of our efforts across our sustainability strategy in our fourth sustainability report, "Innovating Solutions" at the link below.
Continuing to pursue our commitment to low-carbon polyamides and engineered materials, Ascend has purchased a majority stake in California-based Circular Polymers, a recycler of post-consumer, high-performance polymers including polyamide 6 and 66, polypropylene and polyester (PET). The deal provides Ascend with a consistent supply of high-quality PCR materials for our ReDefyne™ sustainable polyamides, launched at K 2022. Circular Polymers, which as part of the deal is renamed Circular Polymers by Ascend, reclaims and processes post-consumer carpet via a unique technology and has redirected approximately 85 million pounds of waste from landfills into new goods since 2018.
A lot can happen in ten years. The Ascend Cares Annual Report celebrates ten years of giving to our communities as well as our achievements in 2021. It reflects on how our people, our projects and the ways we give have grown to create a thriving foundation no one could have imagined a decade ago. A glowing review of the new Suray Sun Shirt made with Acteev by Ascend.: "The fabric - nylon from Acteev and embedded with antimicrobial zinc - is still as buttery soft and smell-free as the day it arrived." Congratulations to our partner Coalatree, and big thanks to Outside for the feature. Happy hiking!
