We’re back in Shawnee, Kansas, to give you an update on the Nieman Road Reconstruction Project. It’s been a little over a year since our last episode covering Nieman Road and the corridor has changed quite a bit. As the project nears completion, here’s a quick recap to bring you up to speed. BHC was selected by the City of Shawnee to identify alternatives for accommodating motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists and other users of the existing Nieman Road corridor.

Our Surveying Segment is staffed with nine skilled UAV pilots certified by the FAA. Our pilots have logged flight and training hours, setting them apart from amateur or recreational UAV users, complying with all FAA restrictions.
2020 marked the 5th year for BHC RHODES' Summer Internship Program. We had 6 engineering interns, 1 HR intern and new this year was a GIS intern. Schools represented were: Kansas State University, University of Kansas, Park University, University of Missouri, University of Michigan and Missouri S&T. We are so proud of our interns as well as the mentors that assisted the interns with their training and summer projects that ended with a presentation to all of leadership. Even though we had new office protocols to follow, including masks and social distancing, this group was resilient and positive. We learned so much from them. Thank you.

BHC RHODES provided the surveying, platting, site design, stormwater analysis, stormwater detention, traffic analysis, site lighting design, water main extension, sanitary sewer extension and utility relocations for the project.
We are happy to announce that BHC RHODES was selected as the 2019 Company of the Year by Kansas State University! This award is given to companies based on their exhibited commitment to engineering education, as well as high standards and quality performance in the engineering profession. BHC RHODES is a longtime supporter of K-State serving as a partner in the Engineering Leadership and Innovation, or ELI, program; providing civil engineering scholarship support; contributing to civil engineering enhancement needs; and funding the BHC RHODES Smart Cities Lab, which benefits research efforts across the entire college.
Friday afternoon we took a break for some puppy and kitten playtime. We fundraised over $1200 for KC Pet Project making this our second annual snuggle session. What a fun way to enhance the smiles and positivity at our Overland Park office.
