"I am Carilion Proud of my teams for providing high quality patient care that always keeps the patient and family as the focus. I love that we celebrate our success and have fun together!" —Karrie Moses, senior director of Quality and Outreach, Carilion Children's.
"I am so proud of our nurses and our Nursing leaders at Franklin. They see our vision and believe in our mission. They live our values and care for each other and our patients like they are family. My team of nursing leaders are true servant leaders. Their roles are defined by their actions, not their titles. Even if they did not have the title, they would be seen as leaders by those around them. They have all the characteristics of a great leader, and I am truly blessed to be a part of such an amazing team!" —Tracy McCown, senior director, Carilion Frankin Memorial Hospital Nursing Administration.
Congratulations to Carl Cline Vice President and Hospital Administrator for Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for being recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as a community hospital CEO to know! Carl was recognized for his leadership in the current CFMH expansion. Under his leadership, the hospital completed the first phase of a $15 million expansion to bring additional services, such as OBGYN, hand surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry and more, and expanded operating rooms and equipment. He has also led two programs that lessened environmental impact at the institution, such as an initiative that dropped fuel usage by nearly 30 percent and a recycling program that should recycle more than 7,000 pounds a year. Join us in congratulating Carl below! #CarilionProud

Congratulations to Linda Dawson for receiving a Bee Award! Here's what a patient had to say about Linda: "My patient care tech has truly blown me away by how very active she has been in my care... Although I've only come to know her in the past few weeks, she has made a huge difference in my care. One day she had to be my sitter and we talked about tons of things that made me happy as I felt very anxious that day. She is such a great listener, but I also enjoyed all the stories she shared with me. She made me feel very understood which is an important thing to me. Just goes to show how caring she is as a person, but as a tech too... She is good at understanding patient needs and I am thankful for her on my hospital journey. Thanks again, Linda!"
Our Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine has been renamed to Carilion Mental Health. This name change helps to clarify options for care and normalize the public's pursuit for mental health services. And by fall of 2023, most Roanoke-based outpatient services will relocate to newly refurbished space at Tanglewood Mall, including individual treatment for children to the elderly, group therapy rooms, support groups and interventional treatment.
We are #carilionproud of Katherine Lauinger for receiving a Daisy Award! Katherine was nominated by four of her patients/patients' family members for her commitment during their healing process. Here's what one of her nominators had to say about her: "Katherine's care for her patients is top notch. She is patient, friendly, caring and extremely knowledgeable. No questions were asked that she couldn't explain fully. No care was too big or small when we asked her to perform it. She is always attentive when concerns arise...In addition, she never got frazzled or lost her calm demeanor. She is a true class act and greatly appreciated."
Did you know that electronic waste that is not properly disposed of can lead to air and soil pollution as well as water contamination? Exposure to these pollutants can lead to health concerns, which is why we're partnering with River Acceptance, a local electronics recycler, to recycle your electronics safely and securely on Saturday, April 15. All funds generated through the revenue of recycle materials at this drive-through event will go towards the Carilion Clinic Foundation's campaign to transform cancer care in our region with a new cancer center.
