The Coalition Spotlight highlights someone each month from #OurCoalition so you can get to know us better! This month we're featuring Florentino Bexiga, Senior Software Engineer from our team in Portugal. "After more than 6 years working close to cybersecurity (first as BinaryEdge, now as Coalition) we've learned that much like any other tool, just because computers are available for everyone, that doesn't mean people know the dangers behind it. We're constantly seeing how many different ways people's assets can be exposed. By engineering ways to uncover these vulnerabilities and developing ways to make people aware of these issues while actively help them fix them, my work feels like a sizable contribution to the world as cybersecurity will continue to be an ever-growing challenge."

We had a great time at our offsite in Santa Cruz! It was the first chance for many of us to meet each other in real life since joining the company. Between meetings and brainstorming sessions, we built boats out of cardboard and duct tape, sang karaoke, performed improv, went hiking amongst coastal redwoods, and enjoyed a casino night.

The Coalition Spotlight highlights someone each month from #OurCoalition so you can get to know us better! First up is Michael Carr, Head of Risk Engineering. "My favorite thing about our culture is the commitment to partner with our customers to manage risk. At one of our companywide offsite meetings, we were discussing the increase in business email compromise claims and how clients implementing multi-factor authentication could greatly reduce these incidents. Traditional insurers have often responded to this type of insight by introducing new exclusions into their policy language. Our approach was to create an incentive for our clients to use MFA rather than to penalize them for not doing so. While we were at the meeting, we created the MFA retention reduction endorsement that we now include on all surplus lines accounts. This endorsement reduces the insured’s retention by 50% up to $10,000 if MFA is in place on a system that had a business email compromise."
