Being good stewards of the environment is at our core. We are thrilled to announce the implementation and activation of two General Electric 2.8-Megawatt wind turbines at our salad processing plant in Soledad, CA. Electrical energy is automatically generated, 24 hours per day, seven days per week as winds rotate the blades. This energy is primarily delivered to the Dole facility’s electrical system with any excess clean energy generated flowing directly to the Pacific Gas & Electric grid.

We are proud to be recognized by the American-Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce for our pineapple operations in Costa Rica. Dole has received the Responsibility in Action Award in the Employees Category for their "Information and Wellbeing Centers" project. This endeavor was also named the overall Grand Winner and works to positively impact the lives of farm employees and families by providing support and access to information from more than thirty public and private organizations.

With every Fair Trade USA certified purchase — not just in October but everyday of the year — farmers receive an additional premium to invest into community projects they decide upon such as education and healthcare. Buying fair-trade products not only supports safe and healthy working conditions but also increases income for the individuals growing those Dole fair-trade products.

Last week, we recognized Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and Food Lion at the Plaza in Charlotte as our Healthy Hometown Heroes for August! Both organizations provide food and supplies to Charlotte’s most vulnerable, working to end hunger and food insecurity in the community. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina serves 24 counties in the Carolinas and, in 2021, they distributed over 82 million pounds of food and household items to over 950 hunger feeding agencies including emergency pantries, soup kitchens, senior programs, shelters and low-income daycares. Food Lion at the Plaza in Charlotte has helped to provide more than 970 million meals to individuals and families since 2014 and is committed to donating 1.5 billion meals by 2025; an absolutely incredible commitment. Congratulations to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and Food Lion at the Plaza in Charlotte! We are honored to work with you to help reduce hunger in our community.
